After analyzing many images received at esglaiart.es, we believe that some will benefit from reading this guide and discovering this app to take photos of their artworks for subsequent online publication.
How to perfectly capture only the image?
We are going to discuss a specific app that has given us good results, but you can use any available on the market dedicated to scanning physical documents for conversion to digital (PDF or image in our case).
The app shown below is “Scanner Pro” available for iPhone, although you can surely find several for Android that perform the same function.
1) Open the application and take a photo of the artwork with good lighting and as perpendicular to the wall as possible.

2) A box with four corners will appear for you to define the borders of the artwork. Use your finger to move and adjust with the magnifying glass that will appear, making it as precise as possible to the corners of the canvas.

3) Click on “Save Selection” and it will be cropped. The colors might change as this app is designed to scan documents, but if you click the magic wand and select “Color Photo”, you will see the colors restore to their originals.

4) Click “Save” to save it. You can also give the artwork a specific name and even add its dimensions for your reference. Now all that's left is to save it to your phone's images or transfer it to your computer, depending on where you prefer to upload the artwork to the website.
If you want to transfer it to your computer or other devices, just click “Share” and choose “JPEG” at the top and your preferred channel such as: email, google drive, etc.

5) In this example, I'm going to send it via email and will select the largest size to avoid losing image quality due to compression from resizing.

Only the image or with a frame?
The dimensions of a painting, in addition to the detail and technique of its painting, are one of the most defining factors for a buyer to invest in your artwork, which is why we always require the width and height measurements of the artwork as a mandatory field in our form. But a new tip for buyers to know the size of the painting at a glance is to photograph it near a commonly known object like a pencil or cup.
If you are going to deliver the painting with its frame, which has been specially chosen for the painting and together they complete the artwork, then we would recommend taking a complete photo of the painting with its frame. But if, on the contrary, you are only going to send the canvas, then focus on cropping and promoting only the image of the painting.
